Sep 15, 2016-Former Gurkhas have lost their allure for equivalent benefits rights at the European Court of Human Rights. 

The British Gurkha Welfare Society (BGWS) had recorded two separate bodies of evidence against the British government at the European Court of Human Rights, contending that every single previous Gurkha ought to be qualified for annuity rights equivalent to any previous servicemen and ladies from British armed force. 

The court situated in Strasbourg, France, maintained the prior choice made by British government, saying that the British government acted legally and there was no break in Gurkhas' human rights. 

The Grand Chamber closed the hearings working on this issue started since Tuesday on Thursday. 

The BGWS was battling a fight in court looking for equivalent annuities for the previous Gurkha veterans who resigned before 1997. As indicated by the present principle of British government, just the Gurkhas who served after July first 1997 are qualified for equivalent benefits rights. 

The decision is prone to influenced many Gurkha families living in Kent, Hampshire and Berkshire. 

The Gurkhas have been battling for more prominent benefits rights to previous Gurkhas after the British government consented to permit Gurkhas who had served four years or more in the British armed force before 1997 to settle in Britain.
